A national college football analyst has predicted the Alabama Crimson Tide to win the 2025 national championship in the preseason.
That analyst is Josh Pate, who, on Thursday night, made his national champion prediction during an edition of “Josh Pate’s College Football Show,” picking the Crimson Tide to make it through the College Football Playoff to win-it-all.
Pate also predicted Alabama to make the College Football Playoff as a No. 2 seeded SEC champion, but having to advance through a gauntlet of teams to lift a national championship trophy, starting with No. 7 seeded Ohio State after a first round bye.
In his prediction, Pate also has Alabama advancing past No. 3 seed Texas in a SEC title game rematch during the semifinals before eventually defeating No. 4 seeded Oregon in the national championship game.
On a recent episode, Pate also predicted the Crimson Tide to defeat Texas in the SEC title game.
The Crimson Tide are coming off a 2024 season in which they finished 9-4 overall, which was Alabama’s first non-double digit win campaign since 2007.
However, year two of the Kalen DeBoer era certainly has the potential for Alabama to return to a double-digit win season, as the Crimson Tide saw a large amount of production return for the 2025 campaign, with some of those names bypassing the NFL draft.
As a result, many across college football are predicting a big season for the Crimson Tide in the preseason, with Pate now included in that group.
Alabama is set to open the 2025 season on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Florida State. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
