Six Ohio State players appear on the preseason Senior Bowl watch list

The preseason awards watch list has pretty much come and gone for the 2025 season, but there are still some lists that can matriculate out as we step up on the stoop of the season.

The latest one comes from the folks at the Panini Senior Bowl, an annual event after the season is complete that showcases All-Star college football seniors looking to boost their stock for NFL scouts and executives. It’s been a well-followed event in the past, and there have been plenty of Ohio State football players take part in its history.

And it might happen again, as long as the seniors who are eligible want to participate. This year, the Senior Bowl named six Ohio State players on its preseason watch list. Safety Caleb Downs, cornerback Davison Igbinosun, linebacker Sonny Styles, tight end Max Klare, wide receiver Carnell Tate, and offensive lineman Ethan Onianwa were all named on the preseason watch list.

Of note is Tate and Downs, who are not seniors. Because they are expected to come out early, they too can be a part of all the festivities, though that is unlikely to happen because there’s no reason to risk injury when they are already expected to be selected very high in the NFL draft. We also don’t expect Styles to take part despite being a senior for the same reason.

I don’t know about you — I like an awards watch list as much as anyone, but it’s time to get past lists and start seeing some action on the field. We are just one week away, folks.
