Syracuse’s Fran Brown discusses playing ‘blue blood’ Tennessee

Fran Brown enters his second season as Syracuse’s head coach in 2025. He guided the Orange to a 10-3 (5-3 ACC) record in 2024, his first season as a head coach.

Syracuse will face No. 18 Tennessee on Saturday in Week 1. The contest will take place at noon EDT at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia (ABC).

Brown kicked off game week on Monday and discussed playing the Vols.

“We get an opportunity to play against one of the blue bloods of college football,” Brown said of Tennessee. “I’ve looked up to this team for a long time. I remember when coach Phil Fulmer was coaching there. I got a cousin named Rashad Baker who got a chance to play there. He was a four-year starter, so being able to see Tennessee for a long time, and I think coach (Josh) Heupel has stepped in and done an amazing job.”

Brown served as Georgia’s defensive backs coach from 2022-23, during Heupel’s second and third seasons at Tennessee.
