Wisconsin football Miami (Ohio) series history

Wisconsin football is set to open its 2025 season against the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 9:00 p.m. ET, 8:00 p.m. CT at Camp Randall Stadium.

Despite combining for nearly 200 years of history, the two squads have only squared off one time. That tilt transpired on Sept. 12, 2015, at Camp Randall Stadium.

With quarterback Joel Stave operating as UW’s signal-caller, the Badgers rolled to a 58-0 victory before 76,535 fans. Stave, who started in 41 games for Wisconsin from 2012-15, completed 19 of his 30 pass attempts for 236 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Robert Wheelwright snagged six passes for 76 receiving yards and two scores, while future NFL running back Dare Ogunbowale rushed 16 times for 112 yards and one score in the blowout win.

The clash served as an opportunity for the Badgers to rebound following a 35-17 loss to Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Wisconsin, under then-first-year head coach Paul Chryst, finished at 10-3 after a closing Holiday Bowl win over USC.

While Wisconsin may not reach the same type of point differential on Thursday, the team is favored by 17 1/2 points in the season opener. Nonetheless, a convincing victory is paramount for the group ahead of a 2025 schedule that includes top programs such as Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon and Michigan.
