Michigan football recruiting goes through a lot of ebbs and flows, and sometimes the ebbs exceed the flows. Look no further than the 2024 recruiting class, which got off to a more torrid start than other classes, only to see decommitments late and prospects that appeared likely to end up wearing maize and blue to end up elsewhere.
2025 was a different animal, however. It took a long time for Michigan to add key players to the class, with the bulk of the class coming together over the summer. But the biggest players came in even later.
Of course, the biggest name was No. 1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood, who had been committed to LSU since Jan. 2024. But cornerback Shamari Earls flipped from Georgia in November as well, and the Wolverines also added safeties Elijah Dotson and Jordan Young, flipped Auburn commit Nate Marshall back just before early signing day, and also got former Alabama commit Ty Haywood to commit in February on national signing day.
With that in mind, ESPN updated its recruiting rankings (subscription required) finalizing their standings in the 2025 cycle. Of course, with Haywood being a late addition, the Wolverines moved up, finishing as the No. 7 class in 2025.
