Departing Colorado football safety Shilo Sanders quietly logged an impressive stat at last month’s East-West Shrine Bowl.
As reported by Shrine Bowl director of football operations and player personnel Eric Galko, Sanders recorded the highest max acceleration of any defender in the game at 6.39 yards per second squared. He did so while backtracking to break up a pass from North Dakota State Bison quarterback Cam Miller to Auburn Tigers tight end Rivaldo Fairweather.
Sanders flashed promise at the Shrine Bowl and has potential as a late-round pick or an undrafted free agent in April’s NFL draft. Sanders’ hard-hitting playstyle paired with breakneck speed in pass coverage could bode well for his future in the pros.
While Sanders may still need to improve his tackling mechanics and IQ in crucial spots, the middle son of CU football head coach Deion Sanders certainly has a chance to hear his name called in the spring.
