CBS Sports QB Power rankings for 2025 hasTexas QB Arch Manning on top

With spring practice upon us, it’s a good time to start ranking stuff. That includes quarterbacks. CBS Sports has put the 2025 QBs in order in a new Power Ranking.

The rankings don’t include the quarterbacks at Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame or Oregon because none of those schools have named a starter yet. When they do, given the power of each program, those starters will most likely join the ranking.

So, who tops the QB Power Ranking? None other than Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning. The Uber rider is just ahead of Clemson’s Cade Klubnik and Carson Beck of Miami. Drew Allar of Penn State No. 4 and Sam Leavitt of Arizona State, a familiar face to Longhorns fans, is fifth.

Manning has the least amount of playing time in the top ten ranking. But CBS Sports writer Tom Fornelli explains why he made Manning No. 1.

“Of all the QBs on this list, Manning is the least accomplished on the field. He hasn’t led his team to a conference title or the College Football Playoff (though one can argue Texas doesn’t accomplish this things without him last year), but if you were to ask who the biggest name in the sport is at QB heading into 2025, it’d be Arch Manning. There’s been so much anticipation for his career since he was a high schooler, and this fall, we’ll all finally get to see him at the helm of the Texas offense.” — Tom Fornelli

Manning and the rest of the Texas Longhorns will continue to prepare for a trip to Ohio State on Aug. 30 to kick off the 2025 season.
