LSU WR Chris Hilton on what transfer portal additions bring to LSU

LSU football signed the top-ranked 2025 transfer class, including two four-star wide receivers with SEC experience.

Oklahoma’s Nic Anderson and Kentucky’s Barion Brown are a few spring practices into their careers donning the purple and gold. According to rising fifth-year senior Chris Hilton, adding two talented players like them pushes everyone to get better.

“It’s always good to have new additions,” Hilton said. “All it’s going to do is make a competition in the room. It builds competition in the room and that’s what you want to see, especially in that room.”

Hilton, who dealt with an injury much of 2024, finished strong at the end of the year. In the regular season finale against Oklahoma, he hauled in two touchdown catches for over 40 yards each. He kept the streak alive with a 41-yard strike in the Texas Bowl win over Baylor.

Losing standout pass catchers Kyren Lacy and Mason Taylor to the NFL leaves room for new threats like Hilton and the transfers to establish themselves as weapons for quarterback Garrett Nussmeier in his second year as a starter. Based on Hilton’s words, the group is rising to the challenge and using the spring to make each other better.
