LOST GYMS: Sharpsville gym still going strong 100 years after it was built
Sharpsville gym, celebrating its 100th anniversary, remains a beautiful reminder to the teams that once played here and remains a vibrant part of the community.
Purdue’s recruiting class has 18 commitments and is rated 45th nationally by On3.Kobe Cherry is the brother of Indiana quarterback Tyler Cherry.
Center Grove defensive lineman Kobe Cherry announced his commitment to Purdue football Monday night.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Cherry, also a standout baseball player, took an official visit to Purdue over the weekend. He is the 18th commitment in the Boilermakers’ 2026 recruiting class, which also includes Lawrence Central offensive lineman James Williams and New Palestine offensive lineman Brock Brownfield.
Cherry picked Purdue over offers from Indiana, Louisville, Minnesota, Toledo, Washington, Western Michigan and Wisconsin. He announced a top three of Purdue, IU and Wisconsin last month.
Cherry is rated as a three-star prospect by On3’s industry rankings. His older brother Tyler Cherry was a star quarterback at Center Grove and is now on the Indiana roster, serving as a student coach for the upcoming season as he recovers from a knee injury.
As a sophomore, Cherry had 70 tackles and three sacks. He missed his junior season with a knee injury.
One-third of Purdue’s class has committed since Friday. On3 rates the class 45th nationally and 15th in the Big Ten.
