Back-to-back games at Ford Field for Michigan State football this fall? That’s what On3’s newest college football writer Brett McMurphy is forecasting.
McMurphy released his first batch of bowl projections on On3 for the upcoming 2025 season, and he has the Spartans reaching the postseason this year. Michigan State lands in the GameAbove Sports Bowl played at Ford Field in Detroit in his projections released on Tuesday.
The Spartans are projected to play Buffalo out of the Mid-American Conference. The GameAbove Sports Bowl is played on December 26.
Michigan State is looking to get back to a bowl game for the first time in four years. The Spartans’ last postseason appearance was the Peach Bowl was in 2021, with Michigan State failing to reach bowl eligibility each of the last three seasons.
If the Spartans were to land in the GameAbove Sports Bowl as McMurphy has projected, it would be back-to-back games in Detroit for Michigan State. The Spartans moved their season-finale against Maryland to Ford Field as well this year.
