Auburn will try to sway the son of former Tiger LB Spencer Johnson during a visit this fall.
“Family” is a familiar phrase people use when describing the atmosphere of Auburn University. The Tigers football program hopes to showcase those values this fall as a legacy player aims to visit during the season.
Kaeden Johnson, a four-star athlete from Missouri City, Texas, pledged to Texas A&M earlier this summer, but is keeping Auburn high on his radar. Johnson’s father, Spencer Johnson, played linebacker for the Tigers during the early 2000s and has spent many hours talking up the program. In an interview with Sam Spiegelman of On3, Johnson says that he has spent a lot of time in Auburn and with former Tigers such as DeMarco McNeil, Jeris McIntyre, and Jason Campbell.
The idea of playing where his dad played has always intrigued Johnson.
“A lot of people don’t get that chance; it’s such a blessing,” Johnson said of the idea of playing for his father’s alma mater. “Football-wise, there’s an opportunity to get on the field there, and that’s always the main reason.”
Johnson, who grew up an Auburn fan, looks to visit the Plains for a game this fall so that he can continue building relationships with the coaching staff. However, he tells Spiegelman that his commitment remains strong with the Aggies despite Auburn’s push.
Johnson is the No. 18 of the 2026 class according to Rivals, and is the No. 57 recruit from Texas.
