Everything Florida HC Billy Napier said during the early signing period

Florida’s early signing period didn’t go as planned, but Billy Napier remained positive about the haul he brought in on Wednesday when speaking to the press.

Napier evaded questions about the players lost in the cycle that saw Florida fall from a top-three class to a middle-teens one. He also broke some news on staff changes going on in Gainesville this offseason.

One thing Napier made clear was that Florida’s 2024 cycle isn’t over. The staff expects to be active in the transfer portal, and there are still recruits up for grabs that can sign in February.

I think when you get to a day like today, the realization is it takes a team of people. I think we’re very fortunate at the University of Florida that we have a great team. Can’t thank the administration enough, relative to what they’ve done in the first two years here to improve the process, to improve the experience of the player and to give us the opportunity to compete and sign the very best players in the country, and we did that today.

I want to thank our coaches who have been on the road. Our on-the-field coaches go on the road for two weeks here, a little over that. We put Kali Kames on the road, Chad Lucas on the road, and both of those guys did a terrific job. Certainly, Coach (Will) Harris had an opportunity to get out there a little bit. He was impactful as well.

We’ve got great people in our personnel department. Jacob LaFrance, Nick McDonald, Joe Hamilton was an all-star in this cycle. Bird Sherrill. We’ve got really, really good people in the back there. I can’t compliment them enough relative to the evaluation process, the roster management…
