Texas football lands commitment from Chris Stewart, 4-star WR in 2026 class

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian added a second commitment to the Longhorns’ 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday with Pearland Shadow Creed receiver Chris Stewart, a four-star prosepct.

Texas football has landed a second 2026 recruit, with four-star wide receiver Chris Stewart committing to the Longhorns on Tuesday.

Stewart joins five-star quarterback Dia Bell as UT’s second 2026 commitment. A Pearland Shadow Creek product, he also had offers from Alabama, Arkansas and Baylor.

“They were big on my list and it felt like the right choice,” Stewart told 247Sports. “I have a relationship with coach (Steve) Sark and coach Chris (Jackson) and I felt like coach Chris has a great relationship with my parents, so I felt like it would be a great decision to make.”

In 2023, Stewart emerged as a top receiving target by recording 35 catches for 654 yards and 10 touchdowns in 11 games. At 6-feet and 175 pounds, he also has plenty of room to grow as he enters his junior season.

The Longhorns lost three receivers to the 2024 NFL draft, but quickly recovered with the additions of five-star recruit Ryan Wingo and transfer portal add-ons such as Silas Bolden, Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden. Texas’ 2025 class currently doesn’t have any receivers.
