Florida football will attempt to make a positive turn in season three under head coach Billy Napier.
But it won’t be easy.
The Florida Gators will face 11 power conference opponents in its 12-game schedule. Eight of the 12 opponents are ranked in the US LBM coaches poll, which was released on Monday.
Florida returns 14 starters on offense and defense, including quarterback Graham Mertz, from a team that finished 5-7 in 2023 and missed a bowl game for the first time since 2017.
It remains to be seen whether Florida can avoid a fourth straight losing season. Florida players, though, feel confident that the growth of the program and offseason work will result in more success on the field.
“We know the type of work we do,” Florida center Jake Slaughter said. “We know the way we push each other, and we know the way that guys compete. We’re out to prove each other right.”
