Washington State puts up 70 points without Cam Ward

While Cam Ward began a campaign for a place in the Heisman Trophy running against Florida, his former school was starting a new life.

Washington State is in the Pac-12 with Oregon State. Ward transferred from the Cougars to the Hurricanes, leading them to a romp over Florida in the Swamp.

Meanwhile, Washington State put a beating on Portland State, scoring 70 points and winning by 40.

The Cougars went for 637 yards and 413 came through the air.

John Mateer was 10-of-16 for 293 passing yards and five touchdowns.

Ward threw for 6,968 yards and 48 touchdowns at Washington State in two seasons.
