Following Texas’ first win of the season, star tackle Cameron Williams made history. On Monday, the Longhorns junior right tackle was named the Southeastern Conference’s Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week. It is Williams’s first weekly career honor and the first weekly honor for a Longhorn by the SEC.
In his second carer start, Williams was the Longhorn’s highest-graded offensive lineman. Williams did not allow any sacks or QB pressures as the Longhorns rolled to a 52-0 win. He was a vital piece of an offense that recorded 545 total yards of offense, including 355 through the air.
Since making his collegiate debut, Williams has become a reliable player. During his three years as a Longhorn, the Texas native has appeared in 23 games. He was part of the 2023 Longhorns offensive line that was tabbed a Joe Moore Award semifinalist. In his first career start against Kansas State, he helped the offense record 230 rushing yards.
As the Longhorns look to improve to 2-0 this weekend, they will need Williams at his best. On Saturday, they are set to take on the defending national champions in Michigan, who beat Fresno State in their season opener. Entering week Two, Texas is ranked No.2, and Michigan is ranked No.10.
What could be a big season for Williams is already off to an impressive start.
