Can’t Wait For Saturday | Obviously, the Buffs haven’t called it a season. Rally proves it

Sep. 23—***

The college football game we all should have been watching was Saturday in Boulder, Colo.

The hometown Buffaloes, still licking their wounds after a convincing loss at Nebraska, trailed Baylor late. Really late.

Down 31-24 on the last play of regulation, Shedeur Sanders rolled across the field while his receivers headed toward the end zone. Sanders let fly and buddy LaJohntay Wester grabbed it in the end zone for improbable tying score. Colorado won in overtime 38-31, setting off a wild celebration usually reserved for an upset against a ranked team.

The play was scary reminiscent of one of the most famous moments in Colorado football history: Kordell Stewart’s last-play bomb to Michael Westbrook to stun Michigan. That was 30 years ago almost to the day.

The Stewart pass was 20 yards longer and away from home. But the vibe was similar.

Many college football observes turned the page on Colorado after its low to Nebraska. But the team is now 3-1 with plenty of chances left to impress. And the Big 12 is wide open.
