The Auburn Tigers rough stretch of football in over a decade continued on Saturday, as Hugh Freeze’s squad lost another SEC game, this time blowing a late lead in Missouri. The Tigers now sit a (2-5) on the season, including an (0-4) record in conference play with only five games remaining. With prospects of playing in a bowl game all-but diminished and three remaining contests against ranked opponents on the docket, many questions have rose regarding the future of the Auburn program.
Still, with all the uncertainty and poor performance, Auburn rose in ESPN’s Football Power Index following the loss. After entering the week ranked No. 35 in the FPI, the Tigers played well enough on both sides of the ball to climb to No. 32. Auburn’s ranking is the fourth worst in the SEC, in front of only Kentucky (No. 41), Vanderbilt (No. 42), and Mississippi State (No. 60).
The FPI ranks each college football team by a variety of factors; Strength of record, strength of schedule, offensive efficiency, defensive efficiency, and overall efficiency. Here is where Auburn ranks in each category entering the final week of its road trip.
