BLOOMINGTON – College GameDay, ESPN’s popular long-running college football pregame show, will broadcast from the south lawn of Memorial Stadium for its first Saturday morning in Bloomington.
The location of GameDay’s set is an anticipated piece of news when the show is in town, with fans encouraged to gather around it for the entirety of the three-hour run time. Creative signs and school colors have long served as part of the backdrop for the program, now in its 37th season.
Indiana will host GameDay for the first time on a Saturday — when the full show, complete with features, traditions and a guest picker, is put on — when the Hoosiers host Washington this weekend. Curt Cignetti’s team is 7-0 and pushing toward the top 10 in both major national polls.

GameDay has at times moved its set away from host schools’ stadiums and onto their campuses, though that might have been difficult in this case. The Sample Gates, the recognizable landmarks at the eastern boundary of campus, butt up against Indiana Avenue, which would likely have required traffic to be diverted or shut down. And other campus sites, such as the Auditorium or the Arboretum, are some distance from Memorial Stadium, making them less attractive to a large crowd with kickoff slated for noon.
IU announced last weekend it has sold out all its remaining home games, beginning with a full house last weekend for the Hoosiers’ 56-7 thrashing of Nebraska. Another capacity crowd is expected for Saturday’s game, with GameDay set to intensify excitement on campus.
