This week’s Blue Federal Credit Union Athlete of the Week award is playing both sides of the ball.
Fossil Ridge football’s Owen Wind took top honors in the Fort Collins area for the week of Oct. 21-26 after starring on offense and defense against one of Colorado’s top teams.
The senior wide receiver/defensive back was all over the field against unbeaten No. 7 Fairview, catching five passes for 144 yards and making nine tackles with an interception and a fumble recovery.

His two-way effort helped Fossil Ridge build a late lead before Fairview answered with a last-minute touchdown to take the league title with a 29-26 win.
For the season, Wind now has 430 receiving yards and three touchdowns. On defense, he’s been disruptive with 45 total tackles, three picks and three fumble recoveries.
His contributions have helped Fossil Ridge (5-4) win four of its last five games and get in position to possibly host a Class 5A first-round playoff game next week.
Wind is the third Fossil Ridge football player to win the award this year, joining quarterback Nick Kubat and wide receiver Marcus Mozer.

Fossil football fans hit the polls hard, giving Wind a majority victory in the football-heavy voting at 50.5%.
