Nov. 13—FARGO — Two former North Dakota State University teammates will coach against each other in the 2024 Class B 9-man football state championship game.
LaMoure/Litchville-Marion head coach Andy DelaBarre and New Rockford/Sheyenne-Maddock head coach Elliot Belquist will try to lead their teams to a state title on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Fargodome in Fargo.

Belquist and DelaBarre are two of the three Bison alumni who will be coaching on Friday with Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison head coach Matt Weidler being the other.
Belquist and DelaBarre both played for the Bison during the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
“We’ve known each other for a long time now,” DelaBarre said. “Elliott and I played together for one year when he was a senior and I was a freshman and stayed in touch throughout our earlier careers too in coaching and teaching. We always at some point throughout the season connect and talk a little football. So I think we’re pretty close when it comes to football, watching his kids grow up too and watching their success it’s been pretty fun to stay in touch with him on Bo and then his daughter that’s down at Nebraska. He’s a good coach, a good guy, a good father and a good friend. So it’s good to see he’s having the success that he’s had with bringing that program up from New Rockford.”
