Giants’ Tommy DeVito dealing with forearm injury, ‘not 100 percent’ to play vs. Cowboys

When the Giants take the field for a divisional bout against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday at AT&T Stadium, they could be without their new starting quarterback.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll told reporters on Tuesday that Tommy DeVito is dealing with a right forearm injury, and while he’s hopeful the second-year pro starts on Thanksgiving, the chance of him being ready is “not 100 percent.”

As a precautionary measure, the Giants are limiting DeVito in practice and having current backup quarterback Drew Lock take first-team reps.

“I’m sore, whole body is kind of sore. First time playing in a while. Took a couple of shots. “If this is a regular week, Tuesday is usually when things settle in to your body, when you get hit on Sunday,” DeVito said. “Usually Monday is a little sore and Tuesday is usually the worst day. So having the extra four or five days after that usually help. But obviously, this week is very different. That’s why I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”

If the Giants have to turn to Lock against the Cowboys, it’ll be the former second-round pick’s first NFL start since Week 15 of last season. At that…
