This week is unlike any other if you are an Ohio State football fan — probably if you are a fan of the Michigan Wolverines as well. It’s Ohio State vs Michigan week, and that means we’re about to witness another installment of ‘The Game.’
It’s the 120th meeting between the two arch rivals and like most years, there are some massive implications at stake. For the Wolverines, there’s not much outside of another win against the Buckeyes (which is huge in of itself), but a down year in Ann Arbor means that a win doesn’t do much but maybe sent the Maize and Blue to a warmer bowl site.
However, for the Buckeyes, a win sends them to the Big Ten Championship game for a rematch with Oregon — something every OSU fan, player, and coach yearned for after the heartbreaking loss in Eugene earlier this season. There is also positioning for the College Football Playoff on the table for Ohio State.
It’s a lot of buildup, but there have been years and games where more was at stake. This game really needs no buildup as arguably the best rivalry in all of sports, and there have been no shortage of monumental moments and memories throughout the years.
