Missouri State football lands DB Navonn Barrett in 2025 recruiting class

Navonn Barrett, a junior college defensive back, announced his commitment to Missouri State football.

Barrett is the third defensive back to commit to the Bears’ 2025 recruiting class. He’s a 6-foot-1, 190-pounder from Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Missouri State has emphasized adding to its secondary since the transfer portal opened on Monday. It appears the Bears will lose starters Lemondre Joe and Keleno Levine to the portal.

Barrett has three years of eligibility remaining after redshirting his true freshman season at FCS Maine and spending his second year of school at Lackawanna but he was ineligible to play.

This past season, Barrett made 21 total tackles with 15 solo. He made 5.5 tackles for a loss and broke up seven passes in nine games.

He also held offers from Arkansas State, Jackson State, Murray State and Albany.

Barrett played high school football at Trenton (New Jersey) Central, where he was a two-sport athlete noted as one of the state’s top hurdlers.

Missouri State is likely to continue pursuing several defensive backs after offering at least eight scholarships to transfer portal targets since it opened.
