Michigan State’s Ethan Boyd, left, shakes hands with his brother Central Michigan’s Evan Boyd after the football game on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing. The Boyds attended East Lansing High School.
Former East Lansing standout Evan Boyd is returning home.
Boyd announced on social media Saturday night his decision to join the Michigan State football program as a transfer after spending two seasons at Central Michigan.
Boyd, whose older brother Ethan was an offensive lineman for the Spartans from 2021 to 2023, entered the transfer portal in December. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver had 21 catches for 302 yards and two touchdowns while appearing in eight games for CMU this season. He ranked third for the Chippewas in receiving yards but led the team in that category and receptions prior to missing the final four games of the season due to injury.
Boyd was rated a three-star prospect out of high school while starring as a receiver for East Lansing. He was named to the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Dream Team in 2022 after setting a single-season school record with 994 receiving yards. He had 61 catches and six touchdowns as a senior.
