The Wisconsin football team’s depleted secondary scored a reinforcement Sunday.
D’Yoni Hill, a 6-foot, 172-pound cornerback who played at Miami last season, committed to the Badgers. He reportedly made visits to West Virginia and Missouri and received interest from Kansas State and Oklahoma State, according to 247sports.
Hill announced his commitment to Wisconsin on X.
“100% committed let’s get to work,” he wrote.
Hill comes to Wisconsin with one year of eligibility remaining. The native of Gainesville, Florida, played his first two seasons at Marshall.
At Miami he started five games and played in 11 of 13 contests. He finished with 33 tackles that included one tackle for a loss. According to Pro Football Focus, he played 375 snaps, the fourth most of any Hurricanes cornerback.
His run as a starter came in consecutive weeks that began with the Hurricanes’ second game. He played in the Pop-Tarts Bowl Dec. 28 and finished with six tackles.
Hill is the second cornerback UW has picked up from the transfer portal. Geimer Latimer II, formerly of Jacksonville State, committed on Christmas Eve.
Their additions help rebuild a unit that lost six players to the transfer portal.
