Jan. 7—Northmont grad Markus Allen plans to play in the SEC next fall.
The 6-foot-2, 212-pound receiver announced Tuesday he has committed to transfer to Mississippi State after spending last season at Eastern Michigan.
Allen led the GWOC with 884 receiving yards and 60 catches as a senior in 2020, when he made the All-Ohio first team and helped the Thunderbolts to a conference title.
That included a game-winning in the waning seconds against Wayne.
He was a four-star recruit in the class of 2021 and signed with Wisconsin, where he redshirted that fall and caught 10 passes for 156 yards before opting to enter the transfer portal after head coach Paul Chryst was fired in the middle of the 2022 season.
He returned to the Badgers after Luke Fickell was hired as head coach, but the receiver parted ways with the program in the summer of 2023 after an off-field incident that spring.
After a stop at Butler Community College, Allen caught 43 passes fro 651 yards and three touchdowns last season for EMU.
He was a three-star prospect in the transfer portal according to 247Sports.
