Four-star quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele entered the transfer portal weeks after signing and enrolling with the Oregon Ducks in the early signing period. Now, he returned to a familiar home, transferring back to the California Golden Bears, according to On3.
Sagapolutele originally committed to Cal. Georgia pursued him as a flip target. Instead of committing to UGA, Sagapolutele flipped to Oregon and signed a letter of intent during the early-signing period.
A few weeks later, he entered the transfer portal, with Georgia getting another chance to land the four-star. Georgia already recruited four-star Ryan Montgomery and flipped three-star Hezekiah Millender from Boise State. However, with Jaden Rashada entering the transfer portal, they could’ve used another quarterback, especially one as talented as Sagapolutele, 2025’s eight-ranked quarterback and No. 106 recruit in the nation.
Instead, Sagapolutele announced his commitment to Cal, where it all began for him. He’ll fight for the starting job, since Cal lost 2024’s starting quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, to Indiana.
