Michigan quarterback Alex Orji transfers to UNLV

Former Michigan Wolverines quarterback Alex Orji is transferring.

Orji, 21, has committed to UNLV for his senior season, the Rebels announced on social media Saturday, writing, “It’s official. Welcome to Las Vegas.” Orji will have two seasons of eligibility left.

“It felt like a great opportunity to go out to Vegas with Coach (Dan) Mullen and Coach (Corey) Dennis,” Orji told ESPN. “It’s an opportunity to cultivate winning culture.”

Orji made 11 appearances (three starts) for the Wolverines this season, completing 25 of 47 passes for 150 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. His best game of the season was Michigan’s Week 5 win over Minnesota as Orji completed 10 of 18 passes for 86 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
