Tom Bolden already has his plans set for Monday night, when the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish play in the College Football Playoff championship game in Atlanta.
The Lakota West High School head football coach will be at home watching the game on his new big-screen TV, cheering on five of his former players.
Ohio State has three recent Lakota West graduates on its roster: Tegra Tshabola, Malik Hartford and Bukari Miles.
Notre Dame has two former Firebirds: Ben Minich and Taebron Bennie-Powell.

“I’m just extremely proud as a head coach, knowing these guys get to participate in what is the pinnacle of college football,” Bolden said. “I’m just so proud to be able to say I had a small part of this journey with them.”
Tshabola has started at right guard every game this season for the Buckeyes on the offensive line. He is on the unit with Austin Siereveld, a Lakota East graduate who has started seven games at left guard, including the last five.
They help a line that has helped the Buckeyes average 36.4 points per game on offense, including 169 yards rushing and 263 per game in the air.
Tshabola, a 6-foot-6, 327-pound junior, played all 13 games in 2023. The 2022 graduate was a three-time first-team all-state player with Lakota West.
Miles, a 2024 graduate and defensive back with the Firebirds, joined the Buckeyes over the summer as a preferred walk-on.
