Ohio State coach Ryan Day to appear on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on Monday

Seven days after his Ohio State team won the College Football Playoff championship, Ryan Day will be returning to the national spotlight — albeit on a very different kind of stage.

The Buckeyes’ coach will appear on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC on Monday night, according to the program’s guest listing.

After weeks of doing media availabilities with fellow coaches such as Marcus Freeman and Dan Lanning, Day will be rubbing elbows with a slightly different class of celebrity. He is one of three guests on the show Monday, coming in after actress Shailene Woodley and lifestyle entrepreneur Martha Stewart.

He isn’t the first Ohio State coach to make a late-night television appearance in the immediate aftermath of a national championship. Urban Meyer went on the “Late Show with David Letterman” after leading the Buckeyes to the title in the inaugural College Football Playoff at the end of the 2014 season.

Day has gone 67-10 since taking over as Ohio State’s full-time head coach ahead of the 2019 season, a run that has included two Big Ten championships and four playoff appearances.

Monday’s show is scheduled to begin at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
