Wisconsin football was busy in the winter transfer portal.
The program saw 23 players depart — 22 via the portal and one without even entering. It responded by landing 19 transfer commitments (18 from scholarship players and one from a walk-on kicker). 247Sports currently ranks that incoming class No. 14 in the nation and No. 3 in the Big Ten, a strong standing for a group that will prove critical to Luke Fickell’s tenure with the program.

Notable incoming transfers include quarterback Billy Edwards Jr., Ball State tight end Tanner Koziol, Tulane defensive lineman Parker Petersen, Louisville edge rusher Mason Reiger and Idaho wide receiver Mark Hamper. Those headliners figure to provide instant stability at their respective positions, some of which saw significant outgoing movement.
Wisconsin enters 2025 with new-look quarterback, cornerback, defensive line, safety and wide receiver rooms. Those positions with heavy turnover are balanced between both sides of the football. The incoming transfers in those rooms will go a long way toward dictating whether the team returns to its classic bowl-eligible standing in 2025.
