As the sun rises on college football national signing day, there are two players in the USA Today High School Sports top 100 composite recruiting rankings that are still unsigned.
Ty Haywood, a 6-foot-5 offensive lineman out of Denton, Texas, had been verbally committed to Alabama since July. But he decommitted last month.
Haywood is ranked No. 20 on the USA Today list. Fans in Michigan are excited, as his January 17 visit there makes it a strong favorite in many minds. He is reportedly still considering Florida State, though, as well. And Texas Tech is said to have an outside shot.
The other USA Today composite top 100 player who is still uncommitted is Philadelphia Imhotep Institute edge Zahir Mathis.
Rumors were running hot and heavy on Tuesday for Mathis, who decommitted from Ohio State last month but reportedly still has them in consideration.
Mathis visited Florida State and Maryland this month, but canceled trips to Michigan and UCLA. Word is that Michigan has basically lost hope, and that Florida State and Maryland are the favorites, with Ohio State still holding an outside chance.
Mathis is the No. 70 ranked player in the USA Today rankings.
