As I stated earlier this week, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko has a knack for finding diamonds in the rough when recruiting defensive prospects, returning to his lengthy career as the Aggies’ defensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021. After landing 25 signees in the 2025 recruiting class, Elko and his staff are onto the 2026 cycle.
On Saturday, it was revealed that rising 2026 linebacker Joseph Credit included Texas A&M in his top eight program list, joining Arizona State, Baylor, Houston, SMU, Kansas, TCU, and UCLA. Out of Pearland (TX) high school, which has become a popular recruiting spot, Texas A&M defensive coordinator Jay Bateman recently visited Credit, as the relationship between both parties has strengthened.
“The linebacker room, top notch facilities and great dudes in general that I can talk to whenever I go to College Station,” Credit stated to 247Sports.
Credit’s abilities are clear, and his performance during the 2024 junior season validates the recent recruiting buzz. He amassed 74 tackles, six sacks, and eight tackles for loss, which included an interception returned for a touchdown.
