The Oklahoma Sooners moved to 10-0 on the season with their 4-0 weekend at the Getterman Classic in Waco. OU won each game by run rule and showed off their depth with a number of players contributing to the weekend sweep. After another successful weekend away from home, Oklahoma moved up one spot in the latest NFCA Coaches Poll to No. 2 in the nation.
The Sooners come in behind the Texas Longhorns, who remain in the top spot at 11-0. Following OU at No. 2 are the Florida Gators, UCLA Bruins, and Tennessee Volunteers in the top five. The SEC features eight of the top 10 programs in the latest coaches poll and has 14 programs in the top 25. The only school not in the top 25 this week is Ole Miss, which received votes from the coaches.
Entering the poll at No. 25 were the San Diego Aztecs, who had a successful week on the diamond, knocking off Missouri and Alabama for a pair of huge top-25 wins.
The Sooners have looked good against a number of teams that will likely make the NCAA tournament at season’s end but haven’t played a team in the top 10 at this point in the season. Oklahoma is looking like a contender once again led by Ella Parker and Louisiana transfer Sam Landry, who earned SEC Player of the Week honors on Monday. But SEC play will tell the story about the 2025 Oklahoma Sooners. They’ll be tested every weekend in conference play, and although they’re still a talented squad, they are relying on a number of freshmen to contribute this season.
Oklahoma will be back in action this weekend in the Norman Tournament, when they’ll welcome Abilene Christian, Wichita State, Bowling Green, and Tulsa to town for the weekend series.
