New Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck had two cars, a Mercedes-Benz and a Lamborghini, stolen overnight on Thursday, the Miami-Dade Sheriffs Office public affairs department told the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Thursday.
The theft, which was first reported by Andy Slater, was reported to the sheriff’s office at about 6 a.m., MDSO said. A UM spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.
Police found Beck’s Mercedes Benz on Thursday afternoon but are still searching for the Lamborghini.
A Land Rover belonging to Miami women’s basketball star Hanna Cavinder, Beck’s girlfriend, was stolen and recovered this morning, MDSO said.
The thefts are being investigated by the Kendall District Auto Theft Unit, MDSO said.
Beck is slated to be the Hurricanes’ starting quarterback this year after transferring from Georgia, where he was a two-year starter. He has signed NIL deals worth several million dollars, according to CBS Sports.
Beck took over as Georgia’s starter in 2023 and led the team to a 13-1 record and an Orange Bowl win over FSU. He finished that season with 3,941 passing yards and 24 touchdowns with six interceptions. He was an All-SEC second-team pick that season.
In his second year as the Bulldogs’ starter, Beck helped get Georgia to the College Football Playoff, throwing for 3,485 passing yards and 28 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. Pro Football Focus gave Beck an 81.2 offensive grade with an 80.2 passing grade this season. Those grades ranked 30th and 23rd, respectively, among quarterbacks with at least 300 dropbacks in 2024.
However, Beck suffered a torn UCL in his right elbow in the SEC title game and underwent surgery to repair it. He will likely miss spring practices but is expected to be ready for the season.
