Every year, there are plenty of winners and losers on the football recruiting trail. 2025 was no different.
Flips and decommitments once again shaped this recruiting cycle as teams built toward their futures.
Some programs landed their keys to what could be a prosperous next few years. Other teams, however, only set themselves back with their lack of success on the trail.
Here are three winners and three losers from the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Winner: Michigan
When you flip the top player in the class away from an SEC program and keep him home simultaneously, it’s pretty easy to say that you’re a winner in the cycle.
That’s exactly what Michigan did, landing its future quarterback in Bryce Underwood. Not only did Big Blue get Underwood, but the Wolverines put together a top-10 class around him, including a pair of top-50 offensive tackles in Andrew Babalola and Ty Haywood.
They may have had a down year following 2023’s national title run, but the Wolverines are now set up for success in the near future.
Loser: LSU
Naturally, it’s easy to put the Tigers in the loser category when you lose a talent like Underwood. They still finished with a top-10 class but could not flip any other quarterbacks so late into the cycle.
Putting the “loser” tag on the Tigers compared to others on the list may seem harsh. They signed five players in the top 75 of the class, including five-star cornerback DJ Pickett.
However, the Underwood loss when it came really dampened any excitement those in Baton Rouge may have had about 2025 and beyond with Brian Kelly at the helm.
Winner: Texas
