INDIANAPOLIS – Julian Sayin has not won the starting quarterback job at Ohio State yet, but some of his former Buckeyes teammates are already confident he will become a star.
OSU players at this week’s NFL combine have gushed about Sayin’s ability.
“Julian is one of the most accurate quarterbacks I’ve been around,” quarterback Will Howard said. “The ball just looks so pretty coming out of his hand. It spins prettier than I’ve seen a lot of balls come out of quarterbacks’ hands. He’s got a real chance to be elite.”

Sayin was the top-ranked quarterback nationally in the 2024 recruiting class. The Southern California native signed with Alabama and was an early enrollee before Nick Saban retired as coach. He transferred to Ohio State last January.

He completed 5 of 12 passes for 81 yards and one touchdown in mop-up time as a third-stringer behind Howard and Devin Brown, who has transferred to Cal.
Sayin will compete with redshirt sophomore Lincoln Kienholz when spring practice begins March 17. The Buckeyes also have five-star freshman Tavien St. Clair.

“I think Julian is that guy, to be honest with you,” cornerback Denzel Burke said. “Lincoln is pretty good, too. I’m ready to see this little matchup they’re going to have. But Julian is a great player – great zip on the ball, great pocket presence.”
Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka teamed last season with freshman Jeremiah Smith, who proved he was the generational talent he was billed to be.
