After today’s game against Florida, the Texas women’s basketball team will celebrate its four seniors. But will the Longhorns also get to celebrate a conference championship?
As it enters the final day of its regular season, No. 1 Texas is tied with No. 6 South Carolina for first place in the Southeastern Conference’s standings. If Texas (28-2, 14-1) beats Florida (14-15, 5-10), the Longhorns will close out their first year in the SEC with at least a share of the conference title. South Carolina (26-3, 14-1) is hosting No. 14 Kentucky (22-5, 11-4) at the same time of the Texas-Florida game this afternoon.
If Texas and South Carolina both win today, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey will flip a coin to determine who will be the top seed for next week’s conference tournament.
As for the Florida game, Texas is facing a 3-1 deficit in its all-time series with the Gators. Texas and Florida last met in 1997, and three of the four games that the two teams played between 1995-97 were decided in overtime.

Texas quartet to be honored on Senior Day
It is Senior Day at Texas, and the Longhorns will recognize four seniors in a postgame ceremony. Guards Rori Harmon and Shay Holle and forward Taylor Jones and Aaliyah Moore will all be honored.
Holle signed with former Texas coach Karen Aston, but the Austin native has played each of her school-record 162 games under Vic Schaefer. Moore and Harmon, who have not yet said if they’ll return to Texas and use the medical redshirts that they respectively received during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, were both members of Schaefer’s first recruiting…
