Spring practice has arrived for Alabama football.
The second season under head coach Kalen DeBoer is in full swing as the Crimson Tide look to respond after a four-loss 2024 season, including losses to Oklahoma and Michigan in the final three games.
Alabama will do so with new faces up and down the roster, from the 18 early enrollees including five-star quarterback Keelon Russell and five-star offensive lineman Michael Carroll, transfers like former Miami wide receiver Isaiah Horton and former Colorado linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green, and a new starter at quarterback, whether it’s Russell, Austin Mack or Ty Simpson.
As spring starts, here is a projection at where Alabama’s depth chart lies ahead of April 12’s A-Day spring game and Aug. 30’s season opener at Florida State.
Alabama football quarterback
Ty Simpson
Austin Mack
Keelon Russell
With the most experience, Simpson will start spring at the front of the pack in the Alabama quarterback room. Don’t expect a starter to be named in spring, though.
Alabama running back
Jam Miller
Richard Young
Dre’lyn Washington
Jam Miller is the obvious option at the top of the depth chart. But after a rough end to 2024, the gap between Miller and the others may be getting smaller.
Alabama wide receiver (X)
Isaiah Horton
Jalen Hale
Derek Meadows
Alabama gained a true X weapon at receiver through the transfer portal. Will that translate into targets to receivers not named Ryan Williams or Germie Bernard?
