Ohio State football five-star commit talks highly of Brian Hartline to OC

Ohio State football has had quite the changing door of coordinators over the last few seasons.

From Jim Knowles leaving for Penn State this offseason to adding Chip Kelly for a season just to see him exit for an NFL gig with the Las Vegas Raiders, the Buckeyes had to revamp their staff, and they did so by promoting Brian Hartline from receivers coach to offensive coordinator while also adding former NFL head coach Matt Patricia to man the defense.

When you adjust coaching staffs for already-committed players, sometimes have second thoughts about playing for your programs. That doesn’t seem to be the case here. Thankfully, the Buckeyes hit the nail on the head with these hires, and five-star quarterback commit Brady Edmunds agrees, praising Hartline while at the Rivals Camp this past weekend.

“I think that’s really important for the recruiting aspect,” Edmunds said of the promotion, especially naming Chris (Henry Jr.) as one of the players that will stay committed to Ohio State after the promotion of Hartline.

The Buckeyes were able to officially get a hard commit from Edmunds on December 2, 2024. He is the second-best player from California in the Class of 2027 and the second-best quarterback in the class as well.

Per 247Sports Composite scoring, he is the 4th-best player nationally. With offers from numerous other premier programs, it was a huge deal getting the commit from the star quarterback, and having been recruited by Kelly, his praise for Hartline is critical.

Edmunds, who showed some flashes at the showcase recently, will have a few more seasons to really perfect his skill before coming to Columbus, but with two top-15 players already committed in the Class of 2027, the future is bright for Ohio State football.
