Oregon announces numerous promotions, coaching hires ahead of spring football

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks have shuffled the coaching staff ahead of the start of the spring football season, internally promoting several former assistants and graduate assistants.

On Wednesday, the Ducks announced that former tight ends coach Drew Mehringer would become a co-offensive coordinator. This move follows the departure of former wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator Junior Adams to the Dallas Cowboys.

Lanning also announced promotions for Rashad Wadood, Kamran Araghi, and Koa Ka’ai. Wadood will coach the Ducks’ cornerbacks, Araghi will oversee Oregon’s edges, and Ka’ai will move into a new role as assistant quarterbacks coach.

On top of all of those promotions, Oregon officially announced the addition of offensive line coach Cutter Leftwich, who was with the program as an OL assistant in 2023 before going to North Texas and coaching with the Mean Green for a year. Leftwich will now return to Eugene after former Ducks’ offensive line assistant Mike Cavanaugh left to take over as the OL coach for the Oregon State Beavers earlier this offseason.

“We are excited about our coaching staff as we prepare for the spring and the 2025 season,” Lanning said in a statement from the university. “Our staff does a tremendous job of prioritizing the student-athlete experience and making sure we are putting our players in a position to succeed, both on and off the field. I look forward to seeing guys like Drew, Rashad, Kamran and Koa thrive in expanded roles, and we are thrilled to welcome Cutter back to our program to assist with our offensive line.”
