When looking at Alabama football’s wide receiver room, Ryan Grubb sees the talent at his disposal, including one he’s utilized before in Germie Bernard.
It’s a room the Alabama football offensive coordinator said he’s excited for, one that includes Ryan Williams: a former star freshman who’s ready to make a statement in Year 2.
“You can already see the guy sitting in the front row at every meeting, wants to be – he’s just a sponge,” Grubb said. “He wants to get better, he’s asking questions.”

As a true freshman, Williams led the Crimson Tide with 865 receiving yards and eight touchdown receptions on 48 catches – two less than Bernard.
Grubb views Williams as a difference-maker, one whose versatility both inside and outside makes him “a unique player” to match with his ability to make contested catches and separate from opposing defensive backs.
Bernard said Williams is one of the receivers younger players have “gravitated” to along with Miami transfer Isaiah Horton and returner Rico Scott.
And in Williams, Grubb sees a receiver ready to take the next step.
“I think that he will,” Grubb said.
Alabama will hold its A Day spring game at noon April 12 from Bryant-Denny Stadium.
