Eddie George’s Ohio State stats and records
During his Heisman Trophy-winning season, George racked up 1,927 rushing yards, which set a school record for yards per game (148.2). He also had 24 touchdowns with three 200-yard games, one of which was a 314-yard performance against Illinois on Nov. 11.
His 3,768 all-time rushing yards ranks him fourth at OSU, behind Archie Griffin (5,589), J.K. Dobbins (4,459) and Ezekiel Elliott (3,961). He is third in rushing touchdowns (44) behind Pete Johnson (56) and Keith Byars (46).
As a result, Ohio State would retire George’s jersey number (27) in 2001.
He would later go on to be a first-round NFL draft pick (No. 14 overall to the Houston Oilers in 1996) and the Titans all-time leading rusher.
