Clemson’s Elite Retreat weekend continues to show signs of success, as three-star cornerback Marcell Gipson announced his commitment to the Tigers. The South Oak Cliff (Dallas, TX) standout made his decision public on social media after receiving an offer during his visit.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound defensive back chose Clemson over 30 other offers, including Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Pitt, SMU, and Wisconsin. Rather than continuing his recruitment, Gipson quickly shut things down in favor of the Tigers.
Gipson, rated as a three-star prospect, is ranked No. 67 among cornerbacks and No. 759 overall in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He becomes the sixth prospect to commit to Clemson following the Elite Retreat, joining four-star offensive linemen Adam Guthrie, Grant Wise, and Chance Barclay, as well as four-star receivers Naeem Burroughs and Connor Salmin.
With Gipson on board, Clemson’s 2025 recruiting class now has 11 verbal pledges and remains ranked inside the Top 5 in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is the second cornerback in the class, joining four-star Shavar Young Jr. as the Tigers continue to build a strong secondary for the future.
Things are heating up fast for Swinney and the Tigers.
