Riley Leonard says goodbye to Notre Dame with animated message

In the long and storied history of Notre Dame football, there have been quarterback with a far more lasting impact than Riley Leonard. Perhaps if he had played his entire collegiate career with the Irish, he would have a greater legacy with the program.

But as Leonard prepares for his next chapter in the NFL, he wants the Irish and their fans to know that not only will he never forget his experience wearing the Blue and Gold, but he will cherish it. That shouldn’t be surprising for a man of great faith like himself.

To that end, Leonard took to social media and release an animation showcasing just how much his time with the Irish meant to him. It’s kind of similar to Kobe Bryant’s “Dear Basketball” animated short that won an Academy Award. Though it won’t be nearly as remembered as that short, this one has just as much heart:

It’s always been the Irish. Thank you all. ☘️ pic.twitter.com/hIeiqxWB3I

Best of luck to Leonard in whatever comes next for him.
