LSU football trying to flip No. 1 overall recruit from Tennessee

LSU football is still looking for a quarterback in its 2026 recruiting class but five of the top 10 ranked QBs are already committed. Signing an elite quarterback in 2026 may require LSU to push for a flip.

The Tigers continue to make their case with five-star Faizon Brandon, a Tennessee commit. By all accounts, Brandon’s commitment to Tennessee is firm, but that hasn’t stopped LSU from making a push.

Brandon recently told On3 that LSU and Alabama “continue to try to recruit me heavily.”

“I let them know I’m 100% locked in,” Brandon told On3.

However, Brandon is maintaining the relationships in case he ever did need to explore his options. In the modern era of recruiting, anything can happen.

LSU knows how up and down recruiting five-star quarterbacks can be. Less than a month before early signing day for the 2025 class, LSU lost Bryce Underwood to Michigan. Underwood was a five-star QB and the No. 1 overall prospect in the class. A significant NIL offer was enough to keep Underwood home.

LSU is holding out hope it can be on the right side of a major flip in the 2026 cycle.

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Brandon is the No. 2 ranked QB in the class and the No. 7 overall recruit. 247Sports ranks Brandon as the No. 1 overall recruit in the country.
