What Isaiah Horton thinks of Alabama football QB Ty Simpson

Isaiah Horton knows what a good quarterback looks like.

In an interview with the Crimson Tide Sports Network, the Alabama football wide receiver talked about his quarterback at Miami, Cam Ward, and his confidence, his preparedness, how “everything he did was for a purpose.”

When Horton transferred to the Crimson Tide, he said it was for a quarterback too: Ty Simpson.

“That’s my guy,” Horton said. “He was my 7-on-7 quarterback in high school. So yeah, we had that little chemistry… Kind of one of the reasons why I came here, to get back with him. He’s a stud. He’s going to be one of them ones. I believe in him. That’s my guy.”

In an interview with the Tuscaloosa News in February, Simpson said Horton called him immediately when the wide receiver entered the transfer portal.

“(Horton) was like, ‘Hey, Alabama hit me up. What do you think?’” Simpson said. “And I was like, ‘Dude, you’re crazy if you don’t come visit and come here. … This offense is built for guys like you.’”

At Alabama, what he calls “the standard of college football,” Horton said Germie Bernard, Ryan Williams and the rest of the Crimson Tide wide receiver room has “embraced me with open arms.”

“We see what we got,” Horton said. “And we know we’re going to be nice. We know we’re going to be special. And we are. We just got to keep working.”

Alabama will hold its annual A Day spring game at Bryant-Denny Stadium at noon April 12.
