WEST LAFAYETTE − By his own account, Landon Drennan is betting on himself.
That’s the post the Purdue football linebacker posted on social media to announce he’ll enter the transfer portal.
Drennan has four years of eligibility remaining.
The former Plainfield standout joined Purdue last season as a preferred walk-on. He did not play in a game as a true freshman last fall.
According to his Purdue athletics bio, Drennan totaled 255 tackles career tackles at Plainfield High School, with 29 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, 9 fumble recoveries and 6 forced fumbles.
He’s the second preferred walk-on from last season to enter the transfer portal, joining rush end Logan Jellison. The spring portal is open from April 16-25.
A change to college football for the upcoming season requires teams to cap their rosters at 105 players. Purdue had 114 players on its spring roster. They’ve added Tennessee State linebacker Sanders Ellis from the portal for the upcoming season in addition to seven incoming freshmen who are committed but not yet on campus.
