Texas signs talented Stanford WR Emmett Mosley from transfer portal

Texas has signed a key target from the transfer portal. Former Stanford wide receiver Emmett Mosley V has committed to the Longhorns. The 6’2″ freshman made his decision soon after visiting Austin this weekend.

Before choosing to go to Stanford, Mosely was a three-star recruit in the 2024 class. He received offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, USC, Georgia, LSU, and Penn State. Mosley entered the portal on April 3 after Stanford fired coach Troy Taylor on March 25. The transfer portal opens for 30 days whenever a head coach leaves their program, allowing athletes to leave and decide on their future, according to NCAA guidelines.

During his freshman year, the former Cardinal made the most of his opportunities, hauling in 48 catches for 525 yards and six touchdowns in eight starts. Mosley’s best performance came against No. 19 Louisville, where he finished with 13 catches for 168 yards and three touchdowns and earned ACC Rookie of the Week.

Wide receiver is a key position of need for Texas coach Steve Sarkisian. “Naturally, there are a couple of positions depth-wise where we’re not where we need to be right now,” Sarkisian said. “We’ll look at the portal that way. Our numbers are down at receiver right now from a scholarship standpoint. Our numbers are down on the defensive line from where our numbers really should be. And our number’s really down at tight end. It’s not a secret that we’ll look to the portal, but I don’t want to take a guy just for a number.”
